Birthday Letter to Haven

Dear Haven,

You’re already two! It’s been exciting to watch you grow up into a little kid this past year. Right now you’re in that super cute toddler phase where your hair’s all wispy and flows into your eyes, your face is full of expression, and you’re learning new words all the time and have super cute ways of communicating. Here are some things about you right now:

You are really into doing things by yourself. When I go to do something you say “I doit” (“do it” is almost one syllable) and then you try. You like to do the top buckle on your carseat, climb up into chairs, put your plate and fork into the sink, close the dishwasher and push the buttons, spread butter on bread, and try to put on your own shorts. You’ve been practicing jumping in place. You like to run races by starting with “dos dos dos” and then running as fast as you can with your little legs!

You like your sister. You like to do what she’s doing and you guys love to crack each other up. If she’s not giving you enough attention, you’re sure to let her know by poking her or pulling her hair. J You like to call her “ZieZie” and you like to call yourself “ViVi.” In the morning when I shower, you and Jozie watch V-Me TV (Spanish kid shows). It’s pretty cute that you guys leave almost the entire couch empty and squish right next to each other at one end of it.

These days you sleep from 8:30pm to about 7:30am and from 1-3pm. Before you sleep you get a drink in the bathroom, then we pray and I sing “Rock a Bye Baby” to you and lay you in your crib. You like to sleep with a little pillow and with three blankets: “stars” (a flannel with stars on it that my cousin Ruth made for you), “Dora” (a little Dora blanket your Grandma B made for you), and a soft “lye” one (it has a butterfly on it).     We are really into PlasmaCars around here. You like to ride the “bink” (pink) one, and you are fast. Lately you keep riding it without any shoes and stubbing your toes. You’re pretty tough and don’t complain much when you get hurt. You usually just want a magical mom kiss to make any owie better.

You already have some little friends. Your closest friend is Ry Ry, who lives down the street. You get excited to see her and you like riding scooters with her or jumping off of things together. You like to be in nursery every Sunday. You’re also friends with Papi (Daddy) and like to climb on him, ride on his back, go on walks in a stroller and go biking while you sit in the bike trailer. You and I are also good friends. You like to hold my hand, sit on my lap, sit by me at the table, go exploring, laugh together, play ball, read stories, etc.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you even better next year as you master talking and we increase our conversation quality. I’ll always look back on this cute time with grateful memories. It’s wonderful to be in your family.

                                                                        Love you,
                                                                        Your Momma
