Dennis Kay Dalley
May 14, 1953 - December 16, 2009
Dennis was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard and Dawn Etta Harline Dalley. Growing up, Dennis was an avid hiker, reader and gardener. He served an LDS mission in inner city New York and later married MaryLee Curtis in the Salt Lake Temple. He dearly loved his family and created lasting memories with his sense of adventure and humor. Dennis brought artistry to his work as a landscape architect, creating gardens and yards across Utah that reflect the mountain scenes he loved.
Dennis was a deeply spiritual man who loved the Lord and walked in His footsteps. He held the gospel of Jesus Christ close to his heart, and tried to pattern his life in a way that would bring honor to his church and an example to his family. Dennis desired to declare this testimony in his obituary: “I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold” (Job 19:25-27).
Dennis was a brave and heroic man who endured great pain for many years without complaint. He continued to shower his family with love even as his health deteriorated, at a time when most people would turn their thoughts to their own difficulties. He will be dearly missed.
Services will be held in the LDS chapel at 12210 South 2700 West on Monday December 21, 2009 at 11:00, with viewings there the night previous from 6:00 to 8:00 as well as Monday morning at 9:00. Dennis is survived by his wife, MaryLee; children Jessica, Jacob, Eric, Melissa, Rebecca and Bryan; siblings Nadene, Paul, Mark, Brenda, Glendon, Rosanne and Nathan; and grandchildren Jozie, Haven, Michael and Tracy.
Dennis, we know family and friends are welcoming you on the other side and that you have a mission ahead of you. Goodbye, dear husband, father and brother. We love you.
I think that is the most beautiful obituary I've ever read.
ReplyDeleteThank you for calling to tell us about your Dad. You are lucky that he was coherent during his last hours and that he knew you were there. Because he seemed to know it was his final days/hours he gave each of you wonderful moments to treasure. Now he will be spending time with the children not yet born into your family. You really do have a strong family and Mike and I are glad you picked Chad. We love you.
