Each of the kids hit a milestone in March!
Claire, who was born with the longest and darkest hair of all the kids, had her first haircut (by Chad). Her hair had grown past her eyebrows and was at least three inches long in the back - a good old 5 month old baby mullet. I didn't want to cut it, but since Chad is also her parent I finally gave in. The shorter hair is all quite a bit lighter than her original hair was - which when held up to mine was exactly the same color. Here's what the mullet was looking like:
Haven got completely potty trained in March. I think she is generally just a careful, smart kid and so she did a great job with it. Wanting to be like Big Sister helped too. Here's what else helped: a treat for each success plus successive charts. First, we started with a chart for each time she peed - after putting 20 stickers in boxes she got a DVD of My Little Pony. When that chart was done we tackled poop with a new 20 sticker chart. All along she got one fruit snack for pee and a marshmallow for poop. When she had a pee accident, her "work" was to take care of nearly all of it - paper towels, 409, changing clothes, wiping her legs with a wipe, etc. I tried to make it her problem as much as possible. For poop, we put a liner in her underwear that kept me sane, cuz you just rip that baby out and throw it in a grocery bag and don't have to do a lot of scrubbing. She wore regular underwear with the liner and then training pants on top, which helped keep the pee accidents pretty small. Anyway, it worked pretty great! Here's Haven with the prize she picked when her final chart was done:
Jozie lost her first two teeth on the same day. She put them under her pillow and was happy with her payment of a quarter per tooth. She wrote about it in her journal at school so I'll have to add a picture of that here soon as well.
Love these kids!
